Thank you to the 78 AMAZING swimmers that took part in the 1st Annual Be Strong and Give Back Happiness Swimathon! And thank you to all of our generous supporters and sponsors who pledged money in support of Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland!
We had an amazing day, swimming, enjoying each other and 'giving back happiness'!
You all helped to raise over $15,445.39 for Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland! Amazing, simply amazing....
With these funds, the Child Life Specialists now have 3 life size dolls that are used in therapy practice with patients to help them through the difficulties of treatment. The CHO Show now has video equipment to film their weekly variety show aired over the CHO closed circuit t.v. for patients to enjoy. Oncology patients will receive a Chemo Duck stuffed animal that will help them understand their chemo treatment and be their new buddy to accompany them through their treatments. And finally, Chemo patients being discharged after their initial stay will go home with all of their medications in a weekly pill box in hopes of making the transition easier and less confusing to their care-givers. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PART IN MAKING THESE THINGS A REALITY!!! THESE SIMPLY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE TO THE CHILDREN IF IT WASN'T FOR YOUR HELP!!!
And check out the video of the day below - thanks Amy B!
We hope to see you back next year!
Love,
Sarah (and her Mom and Dad too!)
